New Website Highlights Unique Opportunities for Advanced Ceramics Businesses and Academia at Multi-Million Pound Open-Access AMRICC Centre

A new online gateway has been launched for businesses and academia in the national and international advanced ceramics sector looking to explore the opportunities and resources available at The AMRICC Centre, a new multi-million pound open-access facility.

Showcasing the Centre’s unique scope and scale, amricc.com outlines its pioneering capabilities, designed to accelerate innovation in the multi-billion-pound ceramics and advanced ceramics sectors.

Almost one year after commencing operations, the facility now has more than 350 pieces of high-value technology and the personnel in place – including scientists, engineers, data scientists, and computational modellers – to support the trial of new products at commercial pilot scale.

The new website gives viewers the inside track on operations of the Centre, including insight into its technical testing capabilities, extreme conditions equipment, modelling and machine learning, as well as its pilot-scale testing facilities.

It also explores The AMRICC Centre’s role in educating the next generation of highly skilled materials scientists of the future, to help companies gain commercial advantage and growth.

Dr Cathryn Hickey, CEO of The AMRICC Centre, said: “As an open-access facility, The AMRICC Centre is able to provide a cutting-edge environment for organisations to trial new products at commercial pilot scale, helping to de-risk the use of new technologies much more quickly.

“We needed a website that captures this unique offer comprehensively and sets out The AMRICC Centre as a centre of excellence for materials technologies on their path to commercialisation, particularly related to advanced ceramics processing.

“The technology and expertise are now in place to work with national and international partners, looking to accelerate improvements to existing technology in the advanced ceramics sector, as well as bring innovation to market faster and to de-risk new technologies.”

“We’ve already got some exciting projects in place and look forward to supporting the commercialisation of new innovation in 2024 and beyond.”

Based in Staffordshire, The AMRICC Centre is the physical outcome from the Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group’s (MICG) £18.27 million five -year research programme, funded by Government under UK Research and Innovation’s flagship Strength in Places Fund in 2021.

Under its remit to provide the ‘go-to centre’ for ceramics and advanced ceramics commercialisation, and give organisations unprecedented opportunities to enter global markets, the facility’s open-access model is available through membership of The AMRICC Centre, or on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis.

Overall financial sponsor Lucideon has championed The AMRICC Centre, investing over £4 million to support it, including £800,000 to back the initial bid and significant investment to host and manage the facility, through funding and access to industry expertise.
