Robocasting Equipment

Our advanced Robocasting equipment (Delta WASP 2040 & 40100) offers cutting-edge capabilities for fabricating detailed ceramic, metal and composite components.

Technical Description

Robocasting, also known as Direct Ink Writing, combines precision 3D printing technology with advanced material processing to build intricate geometries layer by layer. The equipment at AMRICC deposits with a 0.6-0.8mm nozzle finely controlled layers of ceramic, metal, or composite paste, which, upon drying, undergoes high temperature sintering to form dense, robust components. Our Robocasting systems include advanced features for accelerated drying, enhanced dimensional accuracy, and improved surface finishes, significantly surpassing conventional methods. The standout capability of defect detection, removal, and immediate reapplication of layers ensures the production of consistently defect-free components.

Uses and Applications

Robocasting is a versatile technology essential for high-performance material development, extensively utilised in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, electronics, and advanced engineering. Key applications include:

  • Manufacturing complex ceramic components such as dental implants, medical devices, and precision electronic insulators
  • Creating highly intricate metal and composite parts for aerospace and automotive applications, including turbine blades, heat exchangers, and bespoke engineering components
  • Rapid prototyping and development of customised components with complex internal features and fine detail resolution
  • Research and development of new materials requiring precise control over microstructure and properties
